Hello First Baptist Church Marble Falls!
Haley and I said almost three years ago (while students at Texas A&M) that we would be obedient to serve wherever the Lord calls us to in ministry. As we neared engagement, Graham, Texas called me to be their youth minister. We had an excitement in us that the Lord had been good to fulfill his promises, and we were going to get the chance to minister to teenagers and families.
During my time in Graham, I have had the pleasure of seeing many students come to know Christ, profess him publicly, return to him humbly and lead for him boldly. The Lord blessed us with a chance to see growth as a group but also individually in the lives of many students. And throughout my time in Graham, we never ceased praying that we would be obedient to Jesus and when the time came that we were to leave, we would even be obedient to that. So here we are, getting closer every day to what I am positive will be an exciting era in student ministry for First Baptist and the community of Marble Falls. In the past few years Jesus, through some incredible mentors in my life, has refined a vision and strategy in me that I love because I believe it deeply reflects the heart of the gospel and the local church. My desire is that as a church family we are able to accomplish three things in the lives of teenagers and families.
Firstly, my prayer is that we will reach lost and unchurched teenagers for the sake of the gospel. I pray that we reach their families; I pray that we reach their schools. That we will love any teenager at any walk of life that comes into our building and not expect them to put on a show for the church. We will simply love them as Christ loves them and be all things to all people.
Secondly, my prayer is that we bring families closer together around the gospel. As much as I love being a minister, I know that each student has been gifted a better minister than myself in the home through their parents if we can equip them to be the best disciples they can be. Our student ministry will love parents.
Lastly, I want students to be fully integrated into the life of the church. Will this happen for every student? I haven’t seen it yet, but it is the goal we’ll pursue. This desire will affect everything we do as we teach students how to disciple and lead one another and build relationships so they can learn to relate to their own generation and then relate to the generations around them in worship, study, and doing life with one another.
Haley and I could not be more excited to join you in just a few short weeks. We look forward to having you in our home and meeting our pup Kaser, hanging out on the weekends, seeing you at school events, and being fully immersed in the community of Marble Falls. I have no doubt that God has led us to an incredible church where we will be blessed to witness even more incredible things than you already have. We are incredibly thankful that you have welcomed us with open arms from the beginning and look forward to the great things we can accomplish for the Kingdom.
We are excited to have Laine as our new Youth Pastor and have both him and Haley as a part of our church and our community. They will be joining us July 9.
