Here at First Baptist Church Marble Falls in our student and children ministries, we don’t just believe in making 5-, 10-, or 15-year-old disciples. We firmly believe in making 35-, 55-, and 65-year-old disciples. We want to build a faith that lasts a lifetime for your kids and your whole family.
In order to do that well, we need your help and you need ours! We are passionate about our church and your homes coming together because when that happens the next generation has a far better chance of being committed followers of Jesus.
We hope your teenager will join us for the upcoming CityWide weekend, and this year we are offering a bonus. For the first time in CityWide history, we are offering something for parents of all ages as our student ministry and kids ministry come together to host ParentWide!
ParentWide will be a one-hour session for parents of children ages birth-18. It will be held Friday, February 9th at FBCMF from 8:00 – 9:00 pm. The guest speaker will be Michael Sawyer, who has just completed his doctorate in Family Ministry. He will be providing insight into creating lifelong disciples and what all of us can do for the next generation.
In Michael’s words:
For the past few decades churches have gotten larger. As a result, the primary metric for ministry success has shifted toward church attendance. The primary measure for personal faithfulness has followed in kind. Church attendance is now viewed as the end result of faithfulness. This belief shortchanges our kids of the joy of what attending church is all about.
To remedy this, we need to help our kids prioritize consistent engagement, not just regular attendance. Engagement is the act of showing up ready; ready to learn, ready to act, and ready to change. Attendance simply requires a pulse and proximity.
As parents, we have the responsibility of helping our kids show up ready. Getting them to church is only half of our job. In fact, it’s the easy part. Our call is so much bigger than helping them show up. Our job is to make sure they’re ready.
As a staff, we believe that the best way to serve the next generation is to serve their parents. By creating spaces for your child and equipping you to minister to them in the home and to have them ready, we believe that they have an increasingly better chance of following Jesus later in life, and that is the goal of all of our ministries at FBCMF.
We’ll be giving away free resources, date night packages, and family night packages that total $700 in cash value. Childcare will be provided during ParentWide for children ages birth to 10. Our teenagers will already be engaged in CityWide fun!
You seriously don’t want to miss this awesome night. Come win free stuff, and let’s get better together for the sake of the next generation as we strive to help them develop deeper, more meaningful relationships with Jesus.
